Overview
The Directorate of Anaesthesia is part of Clinical & Scientific Services Managed Clinical Services. It operates out of Baguley House at the Wythenshawe site and an additional department at Trafford General Hospital. The department provides anaesthetic services for all routine elective and emergency surgery, supporting a range of surgical specialties and specialised clinical units.
Responsibilities
* Rotate between sub‑specialties of general anaesthesia and obstetric anaesthesia, with exposure to cardiac anaesthesia and cardiac intensive care.
* Work alongside and support consultant anaesthetists in theatres (general and obstetric).
* Provide an on‑call anaesthetic service on a full‑shift basis on an EWTD‑compliant rota averaging 48 hours per week.
* Take part in modular postings in General Intensive Care or other specialities of personal interest (e.g., Pain Management), subject to availability of training slots.
* Assist with CESR applications by providing required experience, competencies, and access to a network of CESR champions.
Qualifications
Experience in general or obstetric anaesthesia and the ability to function within a dynamic, high‑volume surgical environment.
