About the recipient
Applicants wanted to work with a 14 year old young man with Autism and Tourette Syndrome.
This young person is a well-mannered and inquisitive young person who has interest in a variety of science-based topics including nuclear science. He enjoys community-based activities such as shopping. Applicants will also need to supervise this young person in the community as they possess a limited sense of danger.
Applicants will be expected to work flexibly in the afternoons, evenings and/or weekends as part of their role, they should also have experience of working with SEN and be a patient and enthusiastic individual. The ability to make a strong relationship is integral as this will allow this young person to build up enough trust to go out in the community with the worker. An imaginative and creative person would be very welcome as this young man is creative himself and loves arts and crafts, and building projects.

3. Settling and supporting the individual.
4. Keeping them safe in the community.
5. Helping to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
6. Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
7. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.

10. Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
11. Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
12. Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
