About the Role
Bury Children's Services is urgently seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner (AP) with previous EDT experience to join the Emergency Duty Team. This frontline role allows you to lead safeguarding decisions, manage urgent child protection cases, and provide expert guidance in emergency children's social care.
No AMPH qualification is required, making this role accessible to registered Social Workers with advanced experience in EDT and child protection.
Key Responsibilities
As an EDT Advanced Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:
Assessing and managing urgent safeguarding cases for children and young people outside normal office hours.
Providing expert decision-making and leadership within the EDT team.
Undertaking risk assessments and implementing protective interventions to ensure child safety.
Supporting and mentoring less experienced social workers during high-pressure cases.
Liaising with families, carers, and multi-agency professionals to ensure child-centred outcomes.
Maintaining accurate records and statutory documentation in line with Bury Children's Services policies.
Participating in rotational shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Essential Requirements
Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent).
Social Work England registration (current and active).
Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in children's social care.
Previous Emergency Duty Team (EDT) experience is mandatory.
Strong risk assessment, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently under pressure while supporting a team.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
