Job overview The Medical Education Team at The Walton Centre is looking to recruit two Medical Education Fellows for a fixed term period of 12 months, with potential for extension. The role has been specifically designed to support the Undergraduate Medical Education Team and Senior Education Faculty in the delivery of their high quality teaching programme. Applications are welcome from interested candidates from across the seniority spectrum, with the minimum requirement being completion of competencies at Foundation Year 2. Applicants will have demonstrable clinical experience in Neurology and an enthusiasm for developing skills in clinical teaching and assessment. This is an excellent opportunity for a GMC registered doctor with an interest in medical education to join a dynamic department delivering a varied teaching programme that covers classroom-based teaching, beside teaching and simulation, to 4 th Year students and 5 th Year SAMP students from University of Liverpool and Edge Hill University Medical Schools. Post will include one day of clinical work per week to assist with the maintenance of clinical competencies [additional clinical duties possible if desired - decided around any Undergraduate commitments at the discretion of the post holder and the clinical team]. Advert Postholders will work closely together under the guidance of the senior Education clinical leads to design and deliver the Year 4 Undergraduate Neuroscience module, providing Neurology teaching, simulation, and clinical skills training. We provide the University of Liverpool and Edge Hill University Medical Schools with all aspects of Neuroscience Undergraduate teaching and practical clinical skills education. The successful candidates will be based at WCFT and will be expected to engage with the Universities where appropriate. This post is ideal for someone who has practical knowledge of Neurology and Neurosurgery and is interested in a career in medical education and academic medicine. It would provide useful experience prior to undertaking a period of research or applying for a more senior post. The post holder should have completed their general professional training as a Core Trainee and have achieved MRCP/MRCS (UK) or equivalent and be a member of the relevant Royal College.
