We are excited to announce a new opportunity to join our team as a Chemistry Team Leader. You’ll be responsible for leading and managing a team of expert Laboratory Scientists who analyze regulatory drinking water samples and related samples from water treatment works, service reservoirs, customer taps, and catchment surveys, ensuring compliance with regulatory commitments to the Drinking Water Inspectorate. You’ll ensure all samples are analyzed and reported in accordance with the Quality Management System and ISO17025 / DWTS accreditation.
You’ll investigate, resolve, and proactively prevent data and quality assurance issues through root cause analysis. You’ll also promote continuous improvement within your team and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities
* Manage a team of quality analysts performing complex technical analytical processes and instrumentation.
* Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, liaising with HR, QMS, DWI, HSE, Environment Agency, UKAS, Royal Society of Chemistry, Royal Society of Biology, and other relevant organizations.
* Manage resources effectively to meet the Annual Sampling Plan and reactive workloads, driving best practices to meet targets.
* Recruit, select, and induct new staff, providing comprehensive training aligned with QMS and health & safety standards.
* Authorize final sign-off of training records for Laboratory Scientists and Senior Laboratory Scientists, ensuring competency.
* Maintain staff morale, motivation, and engagement, supporting individual development plans.
* Ensure team competence and customer focus, acting as ambassadors and identifying upskilling needs.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience in a regulatory laboratory within the Water Industry, Utility, or Environmental sectors is required. Supervisory experience and familiarity with ISO quality systems are essential.
