Overview

Would you like a job in the largest hospital in the South West as a Specialist Area Lead Radiographer? This role requires strong clinical and leadership skills in general radiography and an ability to develop an essential imaging service. The role has X-Ray service line responsibility to oversee an effective Reject Analysis programme for the X-Ray Imaging Service remit. You will provide clinical excellence, liaise with service users, lead service development, and manage the day-to-day organisation of the clinical area while delivering consistent leadership. You will support the whole X-ray Imaging team as part of a rolling rota of Duty Floor Radiographer duties and act in the absence of the X-Ray Imaging Service Lead Radiographer. The department hosts undergraduate radiographers and trainees; you will be actively involved in their training and supervision as part of your role and support the wider team. All candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and supporting learners in the clinical environment. This position carries a commitment to Agenda for Change compliant 7 day working at Derriford Hospital and peripheral sites with flexible hours across the week.


Responsibilities

* Provide clinical excellence and leadership within the X-ray Imaging team.
* Lead service development and oversee the Reject Analysis programme for the X-Ray Imaging Service remit.
* Manage day-to-day organisation of the clinical area and participate in a rolling Duty Floor Radiographer rota.
* Support the X-ray Imaging team in the absence of the X-Ray Imaging Service Lead Radiographer.
* Involve and supervise students and trainees (undergraduate radiographers from the University of Exeter and the University of Plymouth, as well as apprentice radiographers) in training and clinical learning.
* Deliver teaching and learner support in the clinical environment as part of the role.
* Work across flexible hours, including 7 day working as required by the Trust.


Requirements / Qualifications

* HCPC registered Radiographer.
* Demonstrable postgraduate NHS experience within an acute setting as a senior B6/7 general radiographer.
* Sound current clinical knowledge across all areas of X-ray imaging and relevant post-graduate experience.
* Ability to lead, supervise, and teach learners in a clinical setting.
