Plans, schedules, and directs functions and activities associated with employee safety, health, physical work environment, energy and environmental issues ensuring that compliance meets or exceeds customers (plant and legal) expectations and/or regulations.
Health & Safety
* Develops and recommends formal programmes, policies and communications that promote a safe work culture supported by all colleagues and championed by management
* Establishes a formal plant safety organization, which will permit a high degree of employee involvement on safety teams, inspection teams, and other aspects of the programme
* Educates employees in ergonomic concepts, assess the need for workplace ergonomics, and ensure an effective and participatory ergonomic culture is developed, maintained, and practiced.
* Coordinates incident investigation
* Develops programs and procedures designed to reduce occupational and non-occupational accident/injury/illness experiences
Legislative compliance
* Ensures compliance of all programs meets or exceeds all regulatory and legislative standards
* Develops and conducts training programs on industrial safety, industrial hygiene, emergency planning, government regulations, hazardous materials, COSHH and other related issues
Environmental
* Ensure that the Environmental compliance managed and understood within the organization, develop and integrate waste management, minimization, and recycling into all levels of the product development and production processes
* Site Champion for Energy usage and reduction working to ISO50001 standards
Fire & Security
* Ensures that fire protection and security systems (Access Control, Fire Alarm System, Site Security, CCTV, internal / external contractors) are in place and effective, and that all facility personnel are sufficiently trained to respond to emergencies
Reporting
* Control and improvement of business KPI’s with action plans
* Prepares reports and analysis for all levels of the business
* Lead HSE meetings with safety reps
Safety and Housekeeping
* The upholding of health and safety, environmental standards, including timely reaction to all health and safety and environmental risks / potential and actual breaches
Risk Management
* The jobholder is responsible for working in compliance with BorgWarner’s policies and procedures to identify and record issues relating to the management of risk.

Person Specification
1. IOSH qualification, preferably supported by a degree in the fields of Health and Safety or Process Engineering
2. NEBOSH or working towards
3. Knowledge of all European, National and all other applicable law, and their application that relates to the Health and Safety function.
4. 2 year minimum experience in manufacturing environment
5. 2 years minimum health and safety or quality experience
6. MS Office proficient
7. Experience of managing external audits (ISO14001/45001/ISO50001)
