Salary: £66,100 - £99,100 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + benefits supporting your finances, wellbeing, and family.

The role
As part of SSEN Transmissions Offshore Portfolio, we offer an opportunity for a Protection and Control Engineering Manager to join our Offshore HVAC Project Engineering team. This role supports Island and Offshore projects aimed at delivering a Net Zero network, including connection to HVDC systems, AC plant, grid control, and stabilization technology.
You will
* Provide expert technical guidance for Protection and Control deliverables, define project scope, approach, and resolve key risks across the 132kV, 275V, and 400kV transmission network.
* Execute complex assignments using advanced techniques, developing new or improved processes, equipment, or methods.
* Implement and ensure compliance with CDM procedures, practices, and all regulatory requirements related to substation and electrical system design.
* Produce detailed Protection & Control design packages aligned with standards, including scheme designs, Key Line Diagrams, and specifications for new and modified substations.
* Lead and mentor a team of senior protection and control engineers, supporting their growth and managing consultants and contractors to facilitate decision-making.
You have
* Demonstrable experience in Protection and Control engineering, including development, design, and specification, with the ability to assess issues and produce technical solutions.
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation such as CDM and ESQCR and their implications for transmission network management.
* Effective communication skills to articulate complex technical issues clearly to senior management and stakeholders.
* A focus on continuous improvement and a passion for developing your team, with experience in training or development of protection and control engineers being desirable.
* An honours degree in electrical engineering or relevant discipline, and Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
