We are offering an exciting opportunity within our Healthy Child Service in a brand new role.

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a high level of experience in safeguarding children and children in care practice, who will provide leadership, advice and supervision to the Healthy Child Service (HCS) workforce.. You will also represent the HCS in multi-agency forums in relation to safeguarding and Children in Care.

The Post Holder Will
Be responsible for working alongside multiagency partners delivering the transformation activity underway to meet the delivery expectations of the Families First Partnership (Department for Education).

As part of the HCS Safeguarding Children Team and in conjunction with the Lead Nurse Safeguarding Children provide advice, support, supervision, training and quality assurance of child safeguarding practice in the HCS and with partner agencies.

Oversee all activities necessary for the Healthy Child Service to meet its statutory duties in relation to children and young people in care.

Promote the health needs of individual children in care and of the care experienced population with multiagency partners including but not limited to children's social care, police, Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, sexual health and services for children with disabilities.

Work with Designated Nurses Children in Care and Named Nurses Children in Care in other local organisations to promote seamless services for children and young people. Work with practitioners undertaking direct work with children in care within HCS to promote and support best practice including providing supervision where required.

The Successful Post Holder Will Have

* Registration as Nurse on part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register.
* A Qualification in teaching or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience.
* A Masters level qualification in relevant area, or willing to work towards
* Excellent communication skills
* Up to date knowledge, skills and competencies within the multi-agency safeguarding children arena
* Significant experience working with children and families where there are safeguarding children concerns
* Significant experience of working with children and young people in care.
* Experience in effective multi-agency and partnership working
* Ability to build relationships with a wide range of colleagues
* The ability to demonstrate professional leadership, accountability and professional responsibility within and on behalf of the safeguarding service.
* Skills to support effective challenge when there are differing professional opinions on the management of cases

The post holder will have access to support and supervision as well as peer support via the North Yorkshire and York Safeguarding Children Health Professionals Network

This post is suitable as a job share opportunity.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.

This vacancy is available as a secondment opportunity for internal candidates. Permission must be sought from your current line manager before applying for a secondment opportunity.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
