An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist manufacturing division based in the West Midlands, located with excellent transport links. This Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position offers £55,000-£65,000 plus company car and full package, working within a small, highly skilled team of engineers designing bespoke special purpose machinery for heavy industry. There is clear succession planning in place, with the opportunity to shadow and progress into a Chief Engineer role.
The Role
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will:
1. Design bespoke lifting and handling equipment for heavy engineering applications
2. Take projects from concept through to detailed manufacturing drawings
3. Use Autodesk Inventor and Vault to produce 3D models and manufacturing documentation
4. Produce stress calculations by hand, using Excel and FEA tools
5. Compile risk assessments and ensure compliance with British and international standards
6. Support manufacturing, testing, installation and commissioning
7. Work closely with sales and manufacturing teams to interpret and develop customer requirements
