Role Overview
Join our Diabetes team as a Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse. The service cares for approximately 250 children and young people aged 0-19 years across two hospital sites in Coventry and Rugby. This is a fixed‑term contract of 12 months at 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to respond to the demands of the service.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice to children and young people with diabetes and their families in both community and hospital settings.
* Act as a professional resource for the multi‑professional team.
* Deliver ward staff education, including a mandatory training programme, and support ward link nurses.
* Conduct home visits, school support and travel between the two hospital sites.
* Provide continuous support from diagnosis through to transition into the adolescent clinic.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Current experience working with children and young people with diabetes.
* Immunisation and vaccination report (from UK occupational health provider or GP).
* Demonstrated leadership qualities and excellent communication skills.
* High motivation to learn and support the team in developing the service.
Additional Requirements
* Availability for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract and willingness to be flexible with hours.
* Ability to travel between Coventry and Rugby.
* For internal candidates: approval from current line manager and secondment will be considered.
