We are looking for an outstanding individual to lead our Service Delivery Model (SDM) Review and Community Risk Management Planning (CRMP) function. This is a temporary opportunity of at least 12 months, open to those who can evidence their suitability against the essential requirements for the role. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of fire and rescue provision at a strategic level. You will work alongside senior leaders, drive innovation in service design, and ensure the Service is prepared for the challenges of today and the risks of tomorrow. This is a high-profile role at the heart of organisational transformation, directly influencing how we align our people, stations, and resources to meet the evolving needs of our communities and the future risks they face. The successful candidate will start in post on Monday 17 November 2025. Responsibilities As our SDM & Community Risk Lead, you will: Lead the design and delivery of our Service Delivery Model Review, ensuring it is transparent, evidence-based, and aligned to the needs of our communities. Oversee the ongoing development of our Community Risk Management Plan, providing intelligence and foresight to shape service priorities. Engage with staff, the public, partners, and elected members to ensure our plans are robust, inclusive, and future-focused. Provide subject matter expertise on community risk intelligence and represent WMFS at regional and national levels. Experience and skills We are seeking someone with: Strong knowledge of community risk management and the statutory framework for fire and rescue services. Proven ability to deliver complex, organisation-wide projects. Excellent data analysis, risk modelling, and communication skills. Experience leading consultation and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders. A passion for using evidence and intelligence to improve services and protect communities.
