Grade 5 | £31,022–£33,699 per annum + 10% shift allowance

Permanent | Full-time | 8-week rota including evenings, weekends & sleep-ins (£43.12 per sleep-in)

Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people? If you're passionate, resilient, and committed to helping others thrive, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

At Together for Children Sunderland, we’re proud to be rated Outstanding by Ofsted—twice (2021 and 2025). This reflects the dedication of our talented and well‑supported team, and now we’re looking for more exceptional people to join us.

What’s it like working in our homes?

Our children’s homes are warm, welcoming, and full of life. They’re places where children feel safe, supported, and valued—just like any family home. Picture movie nights in the lounge, chats over tea in the kitchen, and time spent outdoors in the garden. Every child has their own bedroom to personalise, and staff on sleep‑in duty have their own private space too.

About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic, tenacious and motivated Residential Child Care Workers with experience of working with children and young people. In return you will receive appropriate training opportunities as part of your continuous professional development.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Want to know what it’s really like? Hear directly from our Residential Child Care Workers about what the role involves and why they love being part of our homes.
