We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-site Maintenance Electrician at HMP Morton Hall. The Electrician plays a crucial role in ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance work within the prison is carried out safely, compliantly, and efficiently.
The team of 20 is supportive and diverse, with an excellent work ethic. Typically, work is completed independently alongside another on-site Electrician, with the option to buddy up for health and safety when needed.
What you will do:
1. Ensure Health & Safety standards are met across the contract.
2. Test and inspect electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulations, with installation tasks covering around 10 - 20% of your workload.
3. Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
4. Perform planned and preventative electrical maintenance and diagnose/replace failed domestic electrical components.
5. Actively fault find and problem solve on domestic electrical systems.
6. Monitor and order critical spares for all electrical services and oversee the BMS System.
7. Support zero carbon initiatives, contribute to sustainability goals, and handle additional tasks as directed by your line manager.
Qualifications required:
* Appropriate technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above).
* BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition.
* Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution, installation, and testing.
* Ability to work alone and use initiative.
* Capable of working at heights.

* Standard hours are 39 hours per week across 7 days, with a weekend shift pattern of 1 in 3, plus an additional 15% salary allowance.
