Contracts Manager – Estate Services
Temporary 12-week assignment (possible extension)

Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Contract Managers with demonstrable, proven experience in overseeing estate services, managing contractors, and improving service performance. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring estates are clean, safe, and well maintained by leading on cleaning and grounds maintenance contracts. With a strong eye for detail and a customer-focused mindset, you’ll support residents, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement across estate services.
Responsibilities
* Provide proven and effective contract management of cleaning and grounds maintenance services, ensuring full compliance with SLAs and KPIs. Ideally gained within a local authority/ public sector.
* Lead monthly performance meetings with contractors and monitor service delivery.
* Line manage a team of four Contract Monitoring Officers.
* Oversee and quality-check responses to enquiries and complaints, engaging with residents and improving the customer journey.
* Ensure regular estate inspections are carried out, identifying issues and recommending improvements.
* Manage and analyse performance data, producing clear and insightful management reports.
* Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to resolve service issues, including those linked to regeneration projects.
* Maintain high standards of health and safety across waste collection and street cleansing services.
* Lead and deliver service improvement projects for residents.
* Ensure all decisions support the local authority’s climate and ecological commitments.
* Attend resident engagement meetings and estate forums, including occasional out-of-hours duties.
Flexibility is essential, as responsibilities may evolve with changing service needs.
You will need to:
* Demonstrable and proven experience managing a customer-facing team within a contract management or estate services environment.
* Confident in managing KPIs, performance frameworks, and a dispersed workforce.
* Strong commitment to maintaining estate standards and delivering excellent customer care.
* Proven ability to manage contracts and work effectively with contractors.
* Highly motivated, positive, and proactive in finding solutions.
* Collaborative approach, with experience working across teams and service areas.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience resolving service issues and implementing improvements.
* Excellent written communication skills, able to produce concise, persuasive, and accurate reports.
* Strong IT skills, including demonstrable experience in data analysis.
* Genuine interest in environmental matters, particularly waste reduction.
* Willingness to attend occasional evening meetings as required.
