Start: ASAP
When: We need cover every Friday and at least two weekends a month (with extra shifts possible for holidays, events & busy periods)
Why this is the perfect second gig
Looking to top up your income without committing to a full rota? At The Dun Cow, you'll run the kitchen solo on shifts—no brigade politics, just you, clear tickets, and a streamlined pub menu designed for speed and consistency (typical dishes are 10–20 mins pass-to-table, with step-by-step guides).
The set-up you'll love
* Modern kit for fast, consistent service: Lainox ovens, 6-ring Falcon gas, twin fryer, & workflows baked into our preparation
* Clear, practical SOPs & timings for starters, mains, sides & desserts—so you can focus on quality and pace, not guesswork.
* Beautiful rural pub with garden for events (extra shifts pop up on those).
What you'll do
* Lead the kitchen on your shifts (you'll be the chef on duty).
* Cook our core pub menu (classics, grills, fryer/bake items) to spec and time, keep tickets flowing, plate cleanly, and maintain our standards.
* Food safety & allergens: follow our procedures, clean as you go, keep logs tight, and hand over clearly.
Who this suits
* A skilled CDP/Sous/Head Chef wanting flexible, dependable extra work.
* Freelance/private chefs who like plug-and-play systems and autonomy.
* Calm pros who enjoy owning a service without a full-time commitment.
Must-haves
* Solid pub/restaurant kitchen experience running a pass solo.
* Level 2 Food Hygiene (or willingness to gain promptly).
* Pride in consistency, cleanliness, and allergen compliance.
* Right to work in the UK and reliable transport to Hornton, OX15.
Nice-to-haves
* Experience with fryer/grill led menus and fast plating.
* Ideas for simple, seasonal specials during event nights.
Pay & the practical bits
* From £15.00/hour, DOE (paid hourly).
* Range of 5-20 hours per week: we schedule you for Fridays + at least two weekends/month, with additional cover for events/holidays when available.
* Statutory holiday pay accrual; PAYE.
How to apply (on Indeed)
Please attach your CV and add 3 quick lines in your message:
* Your typical availability (Fridays + which weekends),
* A quick pub dish you're proud to turn around fast,
* How soon you could start.
