Job Title:Industrial Facilities Team Leader
Salary:£34,800 per annum
Working Hours:Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM 5:00 PM
Reports To:Facilities Manager / Operations Manager
Team Size:4 direct reports
This role is ideal for individuals looking to step up into a leadership position within industrial facilities management. Candidates should be prepared to take charge of a diverse range of responsibilities and lead a team in maintaining a large-scale industrial site.
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Industrial Facilities Team Leader to oversee a dedicated team responsible for maintaining and enhancing a 9.6-acre industrial site. This role encompasses a diverse range of duties, including yard operations, building and mechanical plant repairs, landscaping, litter and waste management, and general site upkeep. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a hands-on approach, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Leadership & Supervision
* Lead, motivate, and manage a team of 4, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
* Delegate daily responsibilities and monitor progress, providing guidance and support as needed.
* Conduct regular team briefings and safety meetings to ensure clear communication and adherence to protocols.
* Site Maintenance & Operations
* Oversee the upkeep of 40+ outbuildings, including routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
* Manage mechanical plant operations, ensuring equipment is serviced, repaired, and operated safely.
* Coordinate landscaping activities, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and general grounds maintenance.
* Supervise yard operations, including material handling, storage, and organization.
* Health, Safety & Compliance
* Ensure all team members adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies.
* Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance checks.
* Waste Management
* Oversee litter picking and waste disposal across the site, ensuring cleanliness and environmental compliance.
* Coordinate with external waste disposal services and manage on-site waste storage areas.
* Equipment & Resource Management
* Monitor and maintain inventory levels of tools, materials, and equipment.
* Ensure all equipment is in good working order and arrange for repairs or replacements as needed.
* Manage the scheduling and use of plant machinery, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
* Administrative Duties
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance checks.
* Utilize computer systems and software, including Microsoft Excel, to track and report on team performance and site maintenance.
* Ensure all administrative tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Experience:
* Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an industrial or facilities management environment.
* Hands-on experience with mechanical plant operations, building maintenance, and grounds upkeep.
* Skills:
* Strong leadership and team management abilities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently.
* Proficient in using basic IT systems for reporting and record-keeping, including Microsoft Excel.
* Certifications:
* Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) or SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) card is advantageous.
* Full UK driving licence (manual).
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience operating plant machinery (e.g., forklifts, diggers).
* Relevant vocational qualifications in construction, maintenance, or landscaping.
* First Aid and Fire Warden certifications.
* Knowledge of environmental and waste management regulations.
