Procurement Manager – 12-Month Contract (Hybrid)
Location: Royston
Contract Length: 12 months
Working Pattern: Hybrid (negotiable – weekly on-site presence required)
A new opportunity is available for a Procurement Manager on a 12‑month contract with a leading life science technology organisation. This role is based at their modern site in Royston, supporting a high‑impact programme focused on sourcing, supplier management, and strategic procurement activities essential to the delivery of next‑generation systems and components.
As part of a cross‑functional project network, the Procurement Project Manager will act as the key interface between project teams and external suppliers, ensuring all supplier‑related activities are controlled, coordinated, and aligned with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the primary Strategic Procurement contact for project teams.
* Define procurement work packages and ensure alignment with category strategies.
* Conduct supplier scouting, selection, and contracting in line with project requirements.
* Lead RFI/RFP/RFQ processes to achieve optimal cost, quality, and supply continuity.
* Support contract management activities including NDAs and development agreements.
* Provide input on cost assumptions, cost reduction opportunities, and make‑or‑buy decisions.
* Initiate and manage the project sourcing plan throughout the full project lifecycle.
* Ensure timely communication of project needs to Procurement, Supply Chain, and Quality teams.
* Drive Procurement activities directly with suppliers for new externally produced components.
* Support qualification processes such as PPAP and ensure supplier performance is monitored.
Internal & External Collaboration
You will work closely with a wide network of internal stakeholders including: Project Managers, Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain, Product Development, Quality, Supplier Quality, Finance, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs.
You will also act as a key liaison to external suppliers, ensuring commercial, technical, and quality requirements are met.
Experience & Skills Required
* Professional experience in industrial/mechanical engineering or business administration.
* Strong background in Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Supplier Relationship Management.
* Experience within a global industrial environment is highly desirable.
* Strong communication and coordination skills, with proven ability to work cross‑functionally.
* Contracting knowledge and negotiation experience are advantageous.
* Competent user of MS Office; SAP experience preferred.
* Excellent command of English.
