Compliance & Safety Manager
Location: Leeds
Salary: £45,00 - £55,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time, Office based
Headway Recruitment is working on behalf of a well established UK engineering and vehicle solutions business to recruit an experienced Compliance & Safety Manager. This is a key hire for our client and forms part of their continued growth and commitment to quality, safety and regulatory excellence.
The Role - Compliance & Safety Manager
As Compliance & Safety Manager, you will take ownership of the organisations compliance, quality, health and safety framework, working closely with teams across the business to ensure standards are consistently met and continually improved.
This Compliance & Safety Manager position offers genuine influence, visibility and scope to shape processes, embed best practice and support long term business objectives.
The Opportunity
Reporting into senior leadership, the Compliance & Safety Manager will play a pivotal role in strengthening compliance and QHSE processes across the business.
You will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining compliance systems that not only meet regulatory requirements but also support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities - Compliance & Safety Manager
Compliance & Standards
Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies aligned with current legislation and industry best practice
Maintain ISO 9001 certification and third party accreditations including SafeContractor, Avetta and customer specific standards
Lead the business towards ISO 14001 accreditation
Monitor regulatory changes and provide clear guidance to the leadership team
Auditing & Continuous Improvement
Conduct internal audits and report on compliance performance
Develop and manage QHSE policies, procedures and improvement initiatives
Complete supplier questionnaires and support compliance related tender submissions
Health & Safety Leadership
Champion a positive health and safety culture across all areas of the business
Provide expert advice on H&S legislation, policies and safe working practices
Manage incident investigations and liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders
Training & Culture
Design and deliver compliance and safety training programmes
Support behavioural change initiatives to embed best practice across quality, compliance and safety
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate compliance records, audits, risk assessments and improvement plans
Ensure documentation is audit ready and maintained to a high standard
About You
To be successful as Compliance & Safety Manager, you will be confident, organised and able to influence at all levels of the business.
You will ideally have:
Experience working in a regulated or technical environment
At least one years experience in a QHSE or compliance focused role
A recognised health and safety qualification, ideally NEBOSH
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and health & safety legislation
Strong communication, organisational and problem solving skills
The ability to work autonomously and manage workload effectively
