Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is looking to appoint 2 full-time Specialty Doctors to work in our acute Frailty Unit at either site.
The successful candidates will be integral members of the multidisciplinary team in geriatric medicine. Applications are invited from doctors wishing to be part of a high-performing, dynamic workforce. This post offers excellent experience in acute frailty and interface medicine, with opportunities for training and development within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine (Frailty unit)
The post holder will be based on the acute frailty unit, delivering comprehensive geriatric assessments to frail older adults and acting as an ambassador for frailty outside the unit. This is a permanent role providing exposure to other disciplines within medical specialties.
The post is full-time, 10 PA's – 9 DCC and 1 SPA.
Working hours include a 7-day service with 1 weekend in 4 as part of the roster.
About us
Opportunities are available to be based at either Maidstone or Tunbridge Wells sites, with occasional travel between sites. Both hospitals are located close to town centers offering amenities such as shops, bars, and restaurants, and are near Kent’s beautiful countryside. Kent has excellent travel links via motorways (M2, M20) and train services to London and the continent.

* Participate actively in departmental audits and QIPs, coordinating audit activities and implementing changes.
* Engage with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* Ensure compliance with GMC's Good Medical Practice guidelines, including the Duties of a Doctor.
* Take personal responsibility for risk management and review practices to learn from mistakes.
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Full registration with GMC.
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Academic higher degree or diploma.
* MRCP
* Instructor status: ALS
Training and Experience (Essential)
* Wide experience of general medicine.
Training and Experience (Desirable)
* Awareness of clinical governance related to geriatric medicine and PD.
Audit (Essential)
* Thorough understanding of medical audit principles; experience in undertaking and completing audit projects.
Audit (Desirable)
* Active participation in audits with a track record of positive changes.
* Familiarity with IT and computer skills.
Research and Publications (Essential)
* Understanding of scientific principles and literature interpretation.
Research and Publications (Desirable)
* Research leading to a Master’s degree or equivalent.
