Helen Morgan MP and North Shropshire Liberal Democrats are looking for a Communications Officer to join their friendly team in North Shropshire.
The successful candidate will be an excellent writer with strong social media skills who is keen to help Helen Morgan communicate with her constituents as effectively as possible.
Past experience in media and/or politics is desired but all highly-motivated candidates with relevant skills will be considered.
Key responsibilities:
* Work with colleagues in North Shropshire and Westminster to plan and implement effective communications campaigns
* Produce press releases, respond to enquiries and liaise with the media
* Create and publish engaging social media content including videos and graphics
* Manage website and publication of letters and newsletters
* Monitor media coverage
* Provide briefings for the MP
* Attend meetings and visits when appropriate
* Draft responses to policy and campaign enquiries
Person specification:
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* An ability to hit tight deadlines while working independently or as part of a team
* Highly motivated, well-organised, proactive, professional and reliable
* Good knowledge of British politics, the constituency, relevant media platforms and the work of an MP
* Experienced at effectively managing social media platforms
* Competent editor of graphics and videos
* Sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Liberal Democrat party
Salary:
£23,810 - £28,000 depending on experience
Location and hours
The ideal candidate would work four days per week, but alternative hours will be considered.
The position will be based within a lively and dynamic team in Wem. Occasional home working will be permitted but the candidate will be expected to work from the office for the majority of each week.
