Location: Glasgow Govan and Scotstoun (On-site attendance required for recruitment day in Glasgow)
Salary: £38,662.00 (with an additional shift allowance of 33% potentially applicable)
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Welder at BAE Systems, you will play a crucial role in our mission to design and build world-leading Naval Ships. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Welding Expertise: Work with various materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
* Process Variety: Utilize different welding processes such as Manual Metal Arc, Metal Active Gas, Metal Inert Gas, and more.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure high standards in welding butts and fillets, and perform self-verification on all welds.
* Safety First: Adhere to all SHE-related standards, including fume control.
Your Skills and Experience
We’re looking for candidates who bring the following qualifications and experiences:
* Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers required).
* Current Weld Codings.
* Knowledge of Ceramic Tile Welding.
* Experience in Flux Core Arc Welding and Metal Core Arc Welding.
* Ability to produce deposit welds that pass visual and NDE examinations.
* Experience with carbon steel thicknesses ranging from 4-15mm.
* Understanding of SHE and Risk Assessment.
* Background in Maritime or major construction/manufacturing environments.
* Experience in MIG welding of aluminium and automated equipment.
