Hours: 27 hours per week. Shift Pattern: 4 week rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays.

As a Care Worker with Housing 21 you'll be part of a friendly, supportive team that works together to support our residents. Once you're at work, there's no travelling between calls as residents live independently in their own apartments within our schemes, which also offer communal lounges, gardens, cafés/bistros and hair salons for them to enjoy. Working with familiar residents and colleagues every day, you'll build strong relationships and feel part of the Extra Care family.

Care Worker Compensation & Support

* Paid by the hour at £13.48 per hour (full time equivalent £24,602 per annum based on 35 hours per week)

* Supported to achieve relevant qualifications
* Can join our Extra Care Academy – support and training to progress into management


Qualifications

* All you need is: kindness and friendliness, good written and verbal English communication skills, commitment to undertake necessary further training, a genuine desire to help people, reliability and flexibility, the ability to use your initiative, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* No experience or qualifications required – your positive attitude and kind manner will do. Any experience of caring for a relative or friend, raising children, or helping a neighbour will be valued.
* Full training provided with recognised qualifications; Extra Care Academy can help you advance into a management role.


About the Role

* Supporting residents with household tasks (laundry, shopping, cleaning, financial transactions such as paying bills)
* Preparing meals, drinks and snacks as needed
* Encouraging and enabling residents to follow agreed care plans
* Assisting with getting out of bed in the morning, providing personal care (washing, bathing, dressing) and help with undressing and bedtime in the evening, ensuring medication is taken as required
* Putting resident wellbeing at the heart of service, going the extra mile to ensure they can live their best lives and keeping managers and key agencies informed of progress
