The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent, part time social worker within our Bolton Shared Care team. The hours of work can be flexible during Monday to Friday and working patterns can be discussed at interview. Some planned evening and occasional weekend work is also necessary.

The role forms the backbone of a diverse team and is an exciting opportunity to build on our family based short break services for disabled children in Bolton. The role combines all the traditional social work elements of assessment, analysis and statutory supervisory fostering, while also offering the opportunity to learn more about marketing and recruitment, gain experience in the delivery of training and carry out meaningful direct work with disabled children and young people.

The role will include the recruitment, training, vetting, assessing, approval, matching and ongoing support of short break foster carers and sessional carers.

Direct work with the children and young people referred to us is essential. Development work and providing a fresh perspective to established routines and practice are welcomed.

This role is an important part of Bolton’s offer to disabled children and their families. Multi-agency work is vital. Statutory regulations in relation to foster carers apply.

About You

You need to be a qualified social worker with an interest and passion for working alongside disabled children and their families.

You should have a keen interest in family based short break care and be able to work creatively with the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with families and individuals.

An interest in training as a trainer is essential and full support would be given with this.

You will also have insight into the care and support needed by specialist and foster carers and be prepared to “go the extra mile” for our carers.

If you think you could be what we’re looking for, please apply with your CV and covering letter explaining how you meet the requirements of the role as covered in the job description and person specification.
