Senior Highways Engineer
Central London (Zone 1)
6-Month Contract
£40-£45 per hour (Umbrella PAYE)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Highways Engineer to join a well-established highways engineering team based in Central London. The design and delivery teams are co-located, supporting a collaborative and fast-paced working environment with a strong and growing project pipeline.
This is a varied role combining hands-on highways design with technical leadership and support to junior engineers. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise and proven experience delivering highway infrastructure projects from concept through to construction.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver multidisciplinary highway projects, managing priorities and reviewing infrastructure designs from project inception through to construction.
- Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Provide technical and construction support to site teams.
- Supervise and mentor engineers and graduates within the design team.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and client requirements.
Requirements:
- Relevant Degree, HND/HNC (preferably in Civil Engineering) or equivalent qualification.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (ICE, CIHT or equivalent), or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in a highways design role.
- Strong background in highway and traffic engineering design and delivery.
- Proficient in CAD and Civil 3D.
- Extensive pavement design experience.
- Good drainage design experience.
- Experience using KeyLINES and KeySIGN software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project.
- Solid working knowledge of DMRB, MCHW, Traffic Signs Manual and TfL Streets Toolkit.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
