An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Environmental Health service at Braintree District Council. The post holder will be working in our Food and Health & Safey team focusing on proactive and reactive health & safety regulation.
The role will include proactive inspections, accident investigation and health and safety complaints, as well as special treatment registrations. You will respond to planning and licensing consultations and will advise, educate and take appropriate enforcement action where required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Whilst working in a team, you will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision. You must be flexible with working hours as some out of hours visits will inevitably be required. The successful applicant must be familiar with LAC 67/2 and be technically competent in Local Authority Health and Safety regulation.

To be considered, candidates must:
* have at least two years experience working in a health and safety regulatory role within a Local Authority
* be experienced in obtaining evidence and taking enforcement action when necessary.
* Hold a degree, diploma, masters or degree apprenticeship in Environmental Health with full Registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Registration Board, or hold the NEBOSH diploma.
* Hold a full driving licence and have use of a vehicle to undertake inspection and investigation visits.
Food Hygiene regulatory experience is desirable but not essential.
