As MAST-U Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in MAST-U which is currently the largest operating tokamak in the world, providing a facility on which to perform experiments to provide the answer to key questions for fusion power to be delivered to the grid. We are looking for an Engineering Manager for MAST-U who is responsible for the day-to-day delivery and management of the delivery of engineering improvements to the facility. The MAST-U Engineering Manager is a senior role responsible for the delivery of engineering fabrication work on MAST-U, coordinating the many teams working to ensure engineering works are suitable planned and prepared for installation. The post holder will lead the delivery of individual systems for installation and ensure effective management of the planning and design staff working on the programme. Additional Responsibilities: Lead the delivery of engineering fabrication work on MAST-U, coordinating the many teams working to ensure engineering works are planned and executed in line with the requirements of the MAST-U Programme and meet the requirements of the MAST-U Chief Engineer Be accountable for the development and maintenance of engineering planning across the MAST-U programme and track the delivery of systems against this plan to ensure they are delivered for installation in time Provide consultancy and innovative solutions to engineering problems throughout the engineering lifecycle to help ensure programme milestones are met. Train, mentor and coach team members to grow the capabilities and strength of the team. Occasionally represent UKAEA with Fusion partners both internationally and in the private sector. At all times actively contribute to the safety of all personnel working on MAST-U, present a high degree of safety leadership and ensuring that equipment is fit for purpose Act as the Principle Designer in the context of the construction (design and management) (CDM) regulations
