Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer will support the design of advanced thermal and fluid systems for the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit. Key responsibilities include providing analysis and calculation support across all Cooling Water Island Systems, delivering static and transient flow and thermal analyses, contributing to a centre of excellence for analysis methodologies, and performing system design and integration tasks such as sizing components, thermal‑hydraulic calculations, and defining control philosophy.
Responsibilities
* Analyzing and calculating support for Cooling Water Island Systems
* Contributing to a centre of excellence for analysis methodologies
* Generating static and transient flow and thermal analyses using various software tools
* Designing and integrating systems
* Producing, reviewing, and updating system documentation
* Defining system control philosophy
* Sizing components
* Conducting thermal‑hydraulic calculations and modelling
* Formulating equipment specifications
Qualifications
* Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Relevant senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries
* Strong background in mechanical and structural engineering
* Proficient with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia
* Strong mathematical skills and experience with MathCAD
* Skilled in producing technical reports including design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures, etc.
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, etc.)
* Experienced with the engineering design cycle from concept to manufacture
* Familiar with European and Offshore standards (Eurocode 3, DNV)
* Master’s degree is a plus
* Skilled in checking and approving engineering CAD assemblies and drawings
* Proficient in verifying engineering documentation (manual calculations, reports)
* Excellent finite element analysis skills; ANSYS Workbench knowledge desirable
* Experience in non‑linear and fatigue FEA, familiarity with DNV and Eurocodes
