Lead Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist

An experienced specialist rheumatology nurse will lead and coordinate the day‑to‑day care within the Rheumatology team at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role requires a capable leader who can inspire, develop the specialist nurse workforce and ensure consistently high professional practice and care standards.
Applicants must possess in‑depth knowledge of rheumatic conditions, be able to manage complex specialised rheumatology patients efficiently, and support patients, families, and colleagues within the department.
Main duties of the job
* Manage and lead a specialist service with responsibility for ensuring high quality, cost‑effective healthcare.
* Manage and lead a workforce of specialist nurses across a Division.
* Be responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation of care as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist skills.
* Be involved in the strategic review of clinical services as appropriate.
* Implement a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence‑based care.

Job responsibilities
Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full‑time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa unless they have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of employment.

Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse with a degree.
* Post‑registration module in Specialist field of work.
* Research module.
* Advanced clinical assessment skills (if nurse‑led services are part of the role).
* Evidence of professional continuous development and portfolio of learning.
* Leadership or management module.
* Willingness and ability to work toward a master’s degree.
* Non‑medical prescriber.
* Advanced communication skills or counselling qualification.
Knowledge / Experience
* Significant clinical experience as a nurse specialist in the speciality.
* Recognised as an expert in the field of practice with the ability to clinically assess and diagnose.
* Experience in project management.
* Evidence of leading service change.
* Managing a budget.
* Managing and/or leading a team.
* Practical experience of policy development.
* Audit or research experience.
* NHS experience.
