Overview
Pegasus Group is seeking an Associate Urban Designer to join the Design team in our Cambridge Office. The role is full-time and permanent, focused on delivering high-quality Urban Design services, upholding the highest standards, and providing support and guidance to junior team members. This is an opportunity to collaborate with designers and architects on urban design and planning activities, feasibility studies, layout development, development briefs, and design strategies for residential, mixed-use schemes, and related projects.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality urban design services while adhering to Pegasus Group standards.
* Collaborate with a proficient team of designers and architects on urban design and planning activities, feasibility studies, layout development, development briefs, and design strategies for residential, mixed-use, and related schemes.
* Lead project meetings, present designs, and contribute to design documentation such as masterplans, parameter plans, and development appraisals.
* Support, guide, and train less experienced colleagues in technical requirements, project management, and company policies and processes.
* Coordinate with external consultants from other disciplines to deliver projects and manage stakeholder engagement, including public consultations.
* Prioritise workloads, manage multiple projects, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
* Utilise a variety of media in design development and documentation.
Qualifications
* Education to degree level or equivalent, with a postgraduate qualification in Architecture or Urban Design.
* Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in producing design documentation (e.g., DAS, Design Codes, Development Briefs, Compliance Statements) that is sound, clearly structured, and well articulated.
* Competence in producing detailed site layouts, street scenes, and house types for detailed applications, and/or preparation of masterplans, parameter plans, and DAS for outline applications.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or within a team, with the capacity to confer with Directors on complex matters.
* Ability to support and train junior colleagues in technical requirements, project management, policies, and processes.
* Strong reporting and presentation skills with the ability to lead project meetings and deliver presentations.
* Initiative and proactive approach to managing work across multiple projects.
* Experience liaising with external consultants and coordinating multidisciplinary project delivery.
* Experience leading public and stakeholder consultations across multiple projects.
