Job Summary

Job Title: Deputy On Shift
Location: Thornbank Children’s Home – Staining, Blackpool, FY3
Salary: £40,750 - £41,750 per annum
Hours: This role is working on shift (37 hours) with additional office hours (8) making this position 45 hours per week.
Sleep ins: £5,175 per annum (based on 10 sleep ins per month)
Earnings: £45,925 to £46,925 per annum
Shift Pattern: 1 shift on, 2 shifts off (Shifts are 8am to 11pm, sleep in, handover from 8-8:30am the following morning)
Annual Performance Bonus: £750
Ofsted Outstanding Bonus: £625

About Thornbank Children’s Home

Located in Blackpool, this Hexagon Care Services children’s home offers a therapeutic environment designed to support young people with complex needs. The home is easily accessible from surrounding areas across Lancashire and the Northwest. It is within reasonable travel distance from Preston, Lytham St Annes, and Fleetwood.

This home operates under Hexagon’s therapeutic model of care, which is guided and supported by our dedicated team of psychologists. The therapy team works collaboratively with both staff and young people. Their involvement ensures that the care provided is consistently tailored to meet the individual needs of each young person, fostering a safe, nurturing, and developmentally supportive environment.

About The Role

We are seeking to appoint a deputy on shift to assist the registered manager with the running of the home. We specifically require a qualified candidate who has previously been a senior support worker/team leader or Deputy Manager within a children's home. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from candidates with a background of working in adult Services, schools, nurseries, or domiciliary care.

This role is working on shift with additional office hours making this position 45 hours per week.

If you are a Senior RSW with a minimum of 12 months experience working shifts and looking for that step up to be a deputy manager, with the interest of one day running your own service, you are encouraged to apply.

Essential criteria to be a Deputy on Shift:

1. Suitable experience at senior level/shift leader level within a children’s home
2. Level 3 NVQ in Children and Young People or QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
3. Full current & valid driving licence

This is a permanent position, if you have right to work but with an expiry date, we are more than welcome to receive your application but please note you would only be eligible for an interim contract linked to your RTW expiry.
