Wates is seeking a Design Manager to join our Residential team in the Southern region, supporting the design function for our development site in Guildford, Surrey.

About the Role

Our Design Managers play a vital role in our business, driving quality, improving buildability, and fostering innovation. They collaborate with customers and industry specialists to ensure designs meet the brief, focusing on added value, compliance, commercial viability, and best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Producing and managing realistic design programmes and schedules to facilitate design, procurement, and construction.
2. Collaborating with a Senior Design Manager and technical team for smooth coordination across disciplines.
3. Supporting continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
4. Ensuring design review, verification, compliance, and coordination, while mitigating health and safety risks and buildability issues before construction.
5. Working with stakeholders, consultants, and subcontractors to deliver quality outcomes and innovative solutions at each stage.
