Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trust are seeking a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Nurse - part time to work as part of the diabetes nursing team. We are looking for a self-motivated, team player to join the Diabetes Nursing team to help improve patient care and outcomes across the Trust. Ideally, the candidate will have experience as a diabetes nurse with knowledge of diabetes treatment, and should be willing to learn and develop this further. Responsibilities include assessing in-patients with diabetes, reviewing and suggesting treatments, providing advice and education to patients, relatives, and ward staff. The role involves outpatient clinics, phone clinics for discharged patients, and supervising junior nurses. Flexibility to work across sites and cover 7 days a week may be required. Main duties of the job
* Provide a specialist service to adults with diabetes as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Assist in delivering high-quality Diabetes services at King George and Queen’s Hospitals.
* Maintain high standards of nursing care, acting as a role model and educator.
* Deliver education to staff, patients, and carers.
* Support and share knowledge with healthcare professionals, including trained nursing staff and junior medical staff.
* Participate in protocol-based nurse-led clinics for diabetes, including assessment and follow-up.

Education / Qualifications
* RGN registration
* Relevant qualification in diabetes
* Degree-level education or equivalent experience
Knowledge / Experience
* Experience in audit
Appropriate UK professional registration is required. The role is subject to DBS checks under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) 2020.
