Head of Infrastructure & Utilities Surveyor (Landowner-Focused Role) | Vacancy Reference: 33124 DM
This role is not eligible for UK Visa Sponsorship - the successful applicant will need to have a pre-existing Right to Work in the UK in order to be offered an employment contract.

You will bring strong technical expertise and leadership capability, playing a key role in strengthening our reputation as a trusted adviser to landowners navigating complex infrastructure matters. Alongside managing and growing existing client relationships, you will also be encouraged to develop your own network and drive new business opportunities. They are looking for someone who is curious, adaptable, commercially aware, and genuinely enthusiastic about continuing to develop their knowledge in a fast‑evolving sector. Location - Bury St Edmunds and surrounding areas

Salary Package - £50,000 - £60,000 basic salary depending on skills and experience

What you will be doing

Leading the firm's infrastructure and utilities service line across a range of rural and landowner-focused projects

Advising landowners & occupiers affected by utilities, energy, transport, and wider infrastructure schemes

Negotiating compensation claims, wayleaves, easements, and land rights on behalf of clients

Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser on complex statutory and development‑related matters

Overseeing a pipeline of infrastructure & utilities instructions from instruction through to completion

Identifying and developing new business opportunities and building your own client network

Providing technical guidance and support to colleagues within the wider team

Ensuring all work is delivered to a high professional standard, with accurate reporting and clear communication

Contributing to the strategic growth and direction of the infrastructure and utilities offering

Working collaboratively across the business to support broader rural consultancy services

What my client is looking for

Proven experience in infrastructure, utilities, land compensation, or a closely related surveying discipline

Strong technical knowledge of land rights, compulsory purchase, compensation claims, wayleaves, and easements

Ability to act as a trusted adviser to landowners & occupiers in complex, high-value situations

Chartered status (or equivalent professional qualification) with strong industry credibility

Confidence in leading client relationships and handling sensitive negotiations

Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex matters clearly

Leadership capability, with experience mentoring or guiding junior team members

A proactive, self‑motivated approach with the ability to manage a varied workload independently

Strong attention to detail and a high standard of professional reporting

A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a close‑knit consultancy team

Genuine interest in rural land, estates, and the long‑term impact of infrastructure on landowners

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally as required
