We are looking for a Support and Test Engineer in the Production Department, providing test, manufacture and support of the design of electromechanical systems and equipment supplied by SEA for the Defence and Commercial markets.Our Support & Test Engineer will be based at our Barnstaple site. This role does require being onsite 5 days a week. The salary for this role is up to £38k, depending on experience. What you’ll be doing Test, repair and fault diagnosis of electronic equipment, including circuit cards, sub-assemblies and systems. This will include equipment that has been in service for some time, as well as new manufacturing equipment. The candidate will be required to work from circuit diagrams, wiring schedules and test documentation and use a variety of electronic test equipment including logic analysers, scopes and digital multi-meters. Assembly and test of prototype circuits, cards and equipment, investigating component obsolescence issues and other general duties to support the Production and Design Teams. The candidate will be required to demonstrate a good standard of soldering (IPC J-STD-001, IPC 610, IPC 620) and show willingness to sort out design faults. Occasional site visits may be required to customers’ sites to upgrade or repair equipment at sub-system level. During these visits the candidate will be required to represent the Company in a professional manner and must be able to communicate positively with Customers. Ability to work as an unsupervised sole operator is vital, but equally the ability to work within a team and with people from other engineering disciplines in order to achieve the overall objectives of a project are just as vital. Self-motivated and practically minded, with a flexible attitude to a varied workload and content, always keen to address problems through to a conclusion. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. This should include proficient use of Microsoft based software packages. Maintain documentation and records.
