Fixed Term Contract - Until March 2027 (potential to be extended)
Grade B - £28,598 - £34,434
Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Are you passionate about ensuring legal compliance and operational excellence in fleet management? Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated VMS Fleet Compliance Officer to join our Vehicle Maintenance Service (VMS). This is a pivotal role focused on maintaining legal fleet compliance, auditing operational processes, and driving continuous improvement across our vehicle management services.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with legal and internal policies.
* Maintain accurate records for vehicle maintenance, tax, licensing, and inspections.
* Audit driver compliance including CPC, licensing, tacho use, and safety standards.
* Develop and monitor KPIs to track operational performance.
* Deliver targeted training sessions on compliance standards and procedures.
* Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations to senior management.
* Stay up to date with legislative changes and update policies accordingly.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant qualifications in auditing, transport management, or compliance (e.g., CPC).
* Proven experience in fleet compliance, auditing, or similar roles.
* Experience conducting operational audits and reporting findings.
* Have a UK driving licence.
Skills & Abilities
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and monitor KPIs.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in auditing and performance monitoring tools.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
