Our Mission
At MIAG (Meeting Individual Aspirations & Goals), our mission is to create provision where learning is individualised, aspirational and inclusive, enabling children and young people to flourish regardless of their starting points or needs.
We are committed to a relational and trauma-informed approach, recognising that many of our learners have experienced barriers to education. We prioritise safety, trust, consistency and positive relationships as the foundation for engagement and success.
All staff share responsibility for ensuring high-quality provision and achieving the best possible outcomes for learners across the school.
Job Purpose
The Teacher is responsible for the education, progress and wellbeing of all learners within their class or teaching group, ensuring that all learners receive a high-quality, personalised education that meets their individual needs.
The Teacher will:
1. plan and deliver a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum
2. ensure progress against Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes
3. create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
4. lead and manage Teaching Assistants effectively
5. promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through a relational and trauma-informed approach
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
6. Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of learners with SEND, including SEMH
7. Ensure learning is engaging, purposeful and supports progression over time
8. Set clear learning objectives and success criteria
9. Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs
10. Promote high standards of literacy and numeracy across the curriculum
11. Use assessment effectively to inform planning and secure progress
Curriculum and EHCP Delivery
12. Deliver a broad and balanced curriculum appropriate to learners’ needs
13. Plan provision that supports progress towards EHCP outcomes
14. Understand and respond to individual learner profiles, needs and starting points
15. Contribute to EHCP reviews and reporting processes
16. Ensure personalised learning pathways are implemented effectively
Assessment, Progress and Accountability
17. Monitor, assess and record learner progress accurately
18. Use data to inform teaching and identify next steps
19. Provide clear and constructive feedback to learners
20. Ensure learners make measurable progress over time
21. Maintain accurate records using school systems (e.g. Arbor, assessment systems)
Behaviour, Safety and Learning Environment
22. Establish and maintain a safe, calm and purposeful classroom environment
23. Implement the school’s Behaviour Policy consistently
24. Promote positive behaviour, self-regulation and independence
25. Use de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed approaches
26. Respond effectively to incidents of dysregulation
Leadership and Management of Teaching Assistants
27. Lead, direct and deploy Teaching Assistants effectively within the classroom
28. Ensure Teaching Assistants understand their roles and responsibilities
29. Provide clear guidance on supporting learning and behaviour
30. Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to maximise learner outcomes
31. Monitor and evaluate the impact of Teaching Assistant support
Pastoral Responsibilities
32. Act as a Key Worker for identified learners where appropriate
33. Support learner wellbeing, engagement and attendance
34. Build strong relationships with learners based on trust and consistency
35. Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding progress and wellbeing
Safeguarding
36. Promote and safeguard the welfare of all learners
37. Follow all safeguarding and child protection procedures
38. Report concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
39. Record safeguarding concerns accurately (e.g. CPOMS)
40. Maintain professional vigilance at all times
Team Working and Collaboration
41. Work collaboratively with colleagues, SENCO, DSL and senior leaders
42. Contribute to meetings, reviews and school development
43. Work in partnership with external professionals (e.g. therapists, social care)
44. Share good practice and support colleagues
Professional Responsibilities
45. Demonstrate high standards of professional conduct
46. Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines
47. Engage in professional development and appraisal processes
48. Reflect on and improve teaching practice
49. Contribute positively to the ethos and culture of the school
Administration
50. Complete registers and supervise learners appropriately
51. Maintain accurate records (attendance, behaviour, assessment)
52. Write reports and contribute to reviews
53. Ensure safeguarding records are up to date

Safeguarding Statement
MIAG (Meeting Individual Aspirations & Goals) Limited, known as ‘MIAG’ for the purposes of this Safeguarding Statement undertake to protect children and young people who receive our services from harm.
This statement will provide staff and volunteers, as well as children and young people and their families, with the overarching principles that guide our approach to child protection and safeguarding.
This policy applies to anyone working on behalf of MIAG Limited, including senior managers, and the Management Board, paid staff, volunteers, sessional workers, agency staff or students.
