Java Developer – Automation Engineering (Short-Term Testing, Long-Term Dev)
A fast‑moving tech team is looking for a solid Java developer to join them in a unique automation‑focused role. You’ll be helping convert manual test cases into automated ones, building out the testing framework, and solving real technical challenges. It’s not a long‑term testing role; the goal is to transition back into full development once the automation side is up and running.
What you’ll be doing:
* Writing clean Java code to automate existing manual test cases
* Tackling technical challenges in a fast‑paced environment
* Working closely with developers to raise the automation bar
* Eventually moving back into the core development team
What we’re looking for:
* 3+ years of Java experience
* No testing experience required, just a willingness to learn
* Strong technical problem‑solving skills
* Someone who’s happy to own their work and grow with the team
Why this role?
It’s a great opportunity for a developer who’s curious about automation and wants to make a real impact in the MedTech world without getting stuck in testing forever. You’ll be trusted to build something meaningful, with a clear path back into product development.
Interested? This role can pay up to £70k, plus bonus, pension, medical cover, life insurance, 25 days holiday, and a quick interview process.
Please note, this is a hybrid role near Reading and cannot offer sponsorship.
