Flexible working will be part of the discussion at offer stage.PURPOSE OF THE ROLEWe have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Employee Relations and Policy to join the BBC HR ER and Policy team. This strategic role will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of employee relations and policy strategies, ensuring they align with the BBC’s overall objectives, strategy and values.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT• Act as a senior member of the BBC’s ER and Policy team, providing strategic direction and support around policy, industrial and employee relations to the wider HR team and senior leadership.• Develop and implement effective ER and policy strategies to promote a positive and productive working environment.• Act as the senior point of contact for pan-BBC IR matters, including negotiations with trade unions and employee representatives.• Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.• Provide expert advice and guidance on complex divisional/pan BBC IR issues.• Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including trade unions, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies.• Monitor and analyse trends in IR and ER to proactively address potential issues and opportunities.• Lead and support change management initiatives, ensuring effective engagement with employees and trade unions.YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE• Proven experience in senior IR, ER and policy development, preferably within a large, complex organisation.• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and industrial relations practices.• Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.• Strong leadership and team management skills.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and drive change.• Understanding the value drivers of the BBC and being commercially aware.• Being a role model for BBC values and behaviours.DisclaimerThis job description is a written statement of the essential characteristics of the job, with its principal accountabilities, incorporating a note of the skills, knowledge and experience required for a satisfactory level of performance.
