We are looking for a clinical support worker higher level with suitable theatre experience or willing to learn the role of a clinical support worker. The successful applicant will be working within the General Theatre & Obstetrics portfolio assisting and caring for patients undergoing surgery, and will have the opportunity to emergency theatre lists covering more specialities.
The role of a clinical support worker higher level within the theatre department is a specialised and extremely interesting and rewarding role. As a support worker you will be directly impacting on the quality of care we provide to patients undergoing a surgical procedure.
Main duties of the job
Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.
Band 2 requirements willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)
Care certificate
Level 3 vocational qualification
or
Short courses and completion of
competency workbook equivalent
to Level 3 in a range of patient and
clinical care duties
and/or
Equivalent knowledge and
experience in a range of clinical

1. Must complete the care certificate within the 6 months probationary period and on the job training; instruction will be provided this is an NHS entry level requirement.
Knowledge

2. Excellent interpersonal, communication & active listening skills. Ability to adopt appropriate styles & methods of communication
3. Timekeeping, planning and prioritisation skills.
4. Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems to update basic patient information from personal care and associated activity.
5. Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions and observations and metrics.
6. Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision.
7. Ability to demonstrate the importance of holistic person-centred care & related procedures.
Experience

8. Will complete all training whilst in role to undertake basic personal care procedures for patients.
