The Vacancy
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Shipping Officer to join our Supply Chain team within De La Rue.
The successful candidate will ensure service quality, compliance, and operational resilience while managing time-sensitive movements for banknotes, and charter operations. Strong attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and the ability to perform under pressure are essential in this role. As well as this, the ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless logistics execution. A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintaining high compliance standards are key to this position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible for planning and coordinating international shipments of raw material and finished goods with approved freight forwarders, in accordance with the Shipping forecast and Business requirements.
2. Raise shipping documentation in line with Customer and destination country requirements
3. Update the shipping planner on receipt of confirmed movement details.
4. Obtain and verify freight quotes for air, ocean, land freight and air charters from approved vendors.
5. Coordinate and issue Customs Clearance forms for imports and follow up on receipting customs documentation from freight forwarder and couriers to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
Contract type: 12 Month FTC
Working hours: Full Time – 36.5 hrs per week (9am – 5:15pm Mon, 9am – 5pm Tues – Fri)
Base location: Viables, Basingstoke
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
6. Experience working with Imports and Exports in a manufacturing environment.
7. Experience handling Air, Road and Sea Freight shipments.
8. Good knowledge of Incoterms.
9. Letter of Credit knowledge (desirable).
10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
