The holder of this post will work within the NHS Business Services Authority's (NHSBSA) Pensions Operational Finance Section, providing key financial support to deliver the team’s objectives and ensuring robust financial reporting and reconciliation processes are developed and maintained. This role involves data input and transfer, data interrogation and analysis, and the collation of financial information from various systems, along with report production. The post holder will be expected to deliver high-quality customer service, including effective communication with customers and stakeholders. They will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of outputs, working within agreed timetables, using independent judgment where necessary, and exercising decision-making on a day-to-day basis.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Assisting Senior Finance Officers and Finance Officers in core accounting activities across Pensions Financial Operations, utilizing the Authority’s finance system and reporting tools.
2. Performing financial reconciliations against control accounts and employer customer accounts.
3. Ensuring all income and expenditure are accurately recorded, reconciled, and authorized monthly.
4. Producing sales ledger invoices and credit notes through data uploads or manual entry, adhering to KPIs and process guidelines.
5. Updating and maintaining customer account details across systems, ensuring accuracy and a clear audit trail.
6. Driving continuous improvement in business processes using financial and IT skills, contributing to service improvements and building effective relationships with internal and external customers.
7. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing, developing, and maintaining procedures, and submitting suggestions for enhancements.
8. Investigating and resolving complex enquiries, providing support to team members.
9. Liaising with auditors regarding account queries.
10. Communicating effectively with customers to resolve technical and escalated issues via phone, email, and correspondence.
11. Participating in business-wide projects to support service development and growth.
12. Developing knowledge of NHS Pension Scheme Regulations and relevant guidance.
13. Maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with NHSBSA policies.
14. Ensuring procedures are documented, followed, and regularly reviewed.
15. Taking responsibility for personal development to meet future organizational needs and actively seeking growth opportunities.
