As an Emergency Practitioner you will work autonomously to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with undifferentiated urgent presentations. You will be a senior clinical presence – a confident decision maker, mentor, and role model.

Key responsibilities
Provide advanced, autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients presenting to the Urgent Treatment Centre with undifferentiated and acute illnesses or injuries.
Work as an expert clinician, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care, using enhanced clinical skills to manage a broad spectrum of conditions safely and effectively.
Support timely access to urgent care, reduce waiting times, and ensure patients receive the right care in the right place. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, offering clinical leadership as clinician in charge, supporting junior staff, and contributing to service development, quality improvement, and evidence‑based practice.
Act as an autonomous decision maker, exercising professional judgment in complex and unpredictable situations, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate care.
Require substantial experience working within urgent care, emergency care, or a comparable acute clinical environment, using this background to make complex clinical decisions, manage risk confidently, and ensure patients receive timely, appropriate interventions.
Person specification & qualifications
* Current NMC / HCPC registration.
* History Taking and Physical Assessment in Clinical Practice Course or equivalent.
* Completion of Nurse / Paramedic Practitioner Course in minor injury and/or minor illness.
* Practice Assessor / Practice Supervisor certificate (or equivalent).
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
* Degree level education or equivalent experience.
* Non‑medical prescribing.
* MSc Advanced Clinical Practice.
* Evidence of Level 7 Study.
* IRMER trained, including X‑ray interpretation course.

Salary
£49,387 to £56,515 a year (pro‑rata for part‑time hours).
