Role Overview
Are you ready to lead one of Greater Manchester's most diverse and exciting Building Control services? Bury Council are seeking an exceptional Head of Building Control to drive innovation and excellence across the borough. As our new Head of Building Control, you'll have the unique opportunity to lead a team of surveyors and oversee high‑profile projects, shaping the future of building safety in Bury.
Responsibilities
* Influence building control policies and practices across the region and beyond.
* Take charge of safety advisory groups for major sports grounds and events.
* Foster collaboration in areas such as technical support, dangerous structures out‑of‑hours rota, and staff training.
* Drive service improvements and financial sustainability across the borough.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience in Building Control with strong technical knowledge of building regulations, fire safety, and emerging construction technologies.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively with elected members, developers and residents.
* Capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and a deep commitment to public service and safety.
* Strategic mindset and ability to lead the Building Control service to new heights.
Working Hours
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
