DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide and promote safety and wellbeing of clients, meeting or exceeding the client's expectations in a service role. Under the direction of the Manager, Pinewood Centre, this position provides a broad range of dietary activities including: ordering, receiving and stocking all food and related supplies; maintaining current inventories; food heating, assembling, preparation and merchandizing; adhering to safe food handling and sanitation practices; assessing needs; maintaining a clean, sanitized and disinfected kitchen environment; working effectively on a team; preparing food/drink trays for client group and special meetings; and other related duties as required.
This position provides care within a highly sensitive client environment, as part of a team. The candidate must possess superior skills in their ability to work with others and be in keeping with the program's mission, vision and values.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Food Handler's training and certification is required;
* Previous food preparation and/or food service experience;
* Proven working knowledge of safe food handling practices and sanitation;
* Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective interaction with staff and public and provision of good customer service;
* Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment;
* Physically capable of performing the duties of the position and tasks including bending, turning, lifting, walking and standing for long periods of time;
* Proven good manual dexterity;
* Working knowledge of standardized recipes and portion control an asset; and
* Knowledge in food service sanitizing work areas, equipment, dishes and utensils, an asset;
* Must be flexible in terms of availability for weekends, holidays, and for short notice call-in's;
* Must have satisfactory performance record;

* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
