Overview
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Health, Safety and Environment Manager with the delivery of all Mechanical Handling Equipment based training for the promotion of a positive safety culture.
The role will be based across all UK facilities (2 facilities in Gloucester & 2 facilities in South Wales).
Key Responsibilities
Promote a culture of working safely by working in a safe manner at all times
complying with company Health & Safety and environmental standards.
Delivery of all lift truck based vocational training across all UK facilities.
Coordination of the lift truck vocational training system, including the scheduling of training.
Assisting with health & safety improvement activities and the promotion of a positive safety culture within the business.
Completion of audits to ensure compliance of departmental policies & standards, this includes monitoring the safe use of mechanical handling equipment.
Ensure employees are adhering to the Company health & safety standards and processes regarding safety at work.
Proactively contributing at health & safety employee representative meetings.
Liaising with specialist contractors (such as Toyota) for fork lift truck related issues including PUWER & LOLER inspections and or servicing.
Provide assistance in accident investigation reporting.
Contribute to wider business training requirements, such as health & safety training.
Meeting all training based KPIs.
To be prepared to undertake and support other reasonable requests made by the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.
Skills and Abilities
Previous busy factory/manufacturing experience is desirable.
Good PC skills with use of Microsoft programmes such as Word/Teams/Excel etc.
Must be approachable and flexible.
Must be able to complete overtime when required.
Must have an impeccable time & attendance record.
Confident, diplomatic with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Practical hands on approach to problem solving.
Possess a high level of integrity & confidentiality
Ability to show resilience under pressure and have a flexible approach to support the requirements of the department, dealing with change and unexpected events.
Qualifications and Experience
Valid RTITB lift truck instructor’s certificate & 2 years minimum previous lift truck training experience essential.
PPT & MEWP instructor licences desirable.
A Health & Safety certificate such as IOSH Managing Safely desirable
Full UK driving licence required.
Package
* 25 days holiday (mostly fixed with plant shut downs) + 8 Bank holidays
* 37.5 hour week worked Monday to Friday.
