About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Paramedic to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse, a category B Prison located in Fazakerley, Liverpool. The busiest remand prison in the country, HMP Altcourse offers a complex patient population where you will be at the heart of prison healthcare. You will manage triage and unplanned care, assessing and treating patients across a wide range of clinical needs, including emergency response, acute illness, chronic disease, injuries, trauma, use‑of‑force assessments, patients under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and mental health crises.
Hours
* Monday – Sunday service – 37.5 hours per week
* 7 am – 8 pm rota with 1 weekend in 3
* Rota published 2 months in advance
* Occasional nights
Salary
This full‑time role offers an annual salary up to £43,609 – £49,175 per annum FTE, pro‑rota, depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have the legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Responsibilities
* Deliver evidence‑based care, seeking and acting on patient feedback to personalise care, focusing on emergency and unplanned needs.
* Provide non‑judgemental, therapeutic care while promoting professional boundaries.
* Participate actively in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following policies and procedures, always safeguarding the patient.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), pharmacists, nurses, support workers, and administrative staff, with access to in‑house diagnostics (X‑ray, ultrasound, blood clinics).

* Qualified Paramedic with current HCPC registration
* Proven post‑registration ambulance experience
* Evidence of continued professional development

* Experience in Accident & Emergency, Primary Care environments, or minor injuries/illness; experience in a hospital, community or prison setting is ideal but not essential
