The Project Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation will help drive SGN’s realization of modernisation in the future of energy through supporting SGN’s Operational Technology (OT) cyber security initiatives, so come join a team of forward thinkers.
As Project Engineer - E&I you will be part of a diverse team responsible for delivering SGN’s OT cyber security control system upgrade, with you being the ‘Competent Person’ (CP) during Management of Change (MoC) activities at Project Engineer E&I will focus on ensuring projects and 3rd parties operate safely and in accordance with new and existing E&I policies and procedures.
The Project Engineer E&I is responsible for a wide range of activities supporting our team, systems integrators and other SGN OT projects across the wider SGN community. The work will include but not be limited to; PS/6 Management of Change (MoC) and Non-routine Operation documentation (NRO) initiation, Installation, Testing and commissioning activities.

1. Being the ‘Competent Person’ (CP) during management of change activities at site
2. Being the CP for site-specific PS5/6/8 management of change documents and Non-Routine Operation (NRO) documentation
3. Providing oversight of 3rd party Systems Integrators at site to ensure correct execution of change
4. Performing surveys to confirm site project readiness
5. Ensuring installation, commissioning and testing processes are completed
6. Ensuring low voltage isolation and electrical installation practices are followed
7. Initiating red line drawings, and ensure drawings are passed to the Project Co-Ordinator
8. Coordinating with the other E&I and Major project teams to confirm responsibilities under PS/6 and NRO to maximise efficiency
9. Contributing to the building and adherence to project schedules
10. Engaging with internal and external stakeholders
11. Researching and reviewing information for stakeholders
12. Helping optimise MoC surrounding project implementations
13. Assisting deployment programme momentum and effective use of personnel
14. Providing support/responses to project queries to stakeholders
15. Using various computer systems and software packages
16. Traveling to sites across Scotland
What you’ll need
We are looking to add an active member to our team who can work cohesively and autonomously.
The ideal candidate will have relevant work experience in the following disciplines:
17. Demonstratable “hands-on” experience of implementing electrical and instrumentation systems for a utility, Integrator, or automation driven organisation
18. Experience of Management of Change in an industrial process environment
19. Knowledge and training in safe isolation practices and permit to work processes
20. Knowledge of ATEX, DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and explosives Atmospheres Regulations) and Hazardous Areas
21. Exposure to IP networking and OT systems and a willingness and ability to learn new skills
22. Understand the importance of Cyber Security in an OT environment

24. Someone that can demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving
25. Diligent, organised, with an attention to detail and strong written skills
26. Hold a full valid driving license
27. Be successful in securing SC clearance
