To share with other staff in meeting the personal care and support needs of customers in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their independence. The care and support provided by Care Assistants is expected to include support that would reasonably be given by members of the customer’s family and is not to include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse.

* Assist customers with getting up and going to bed, including dressing, undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting.
* Help customers with mobility and physical disabilities, including incontinence and use of personal aids and equipment.
* Care for customers who are temporarily sick and need bed nursing and feeding assistance.
* Provide care and support for terminally ill customers.
* Promote mental and physical activities through talking, outings, reading, hobbies, and recreation.
* Make and change beds, perform light cleaning, empty commodes, and tidy up.
* Inspect, launder, and mend customers’ clothes.
* Set tables and trays, prepare and serve light meals, and clean up afterward.
* Read and write reports, participate in customer reviews and training activities.
* Adhere to all Caremark policies and procedures at all times.
* Report significant changes in a customer's health or circumstances to the Field Care Supervisor or Care Manager.
* Encourage and support customer independence whenever possible.
