What you will be doing
You will be evaluating service user’s individual speech and languages treatment plans, leading 1-1’s and therapeutic group sessions with service users who have cognitive and communication impairments and analysing clinical audit data for service users.
Other responsibilities include:
1. Following department guidelines and standards to independently support the work of SLT’s e.g. jointly planning and running therapy groups.
2. Completing mealtime observations of swallowing safety with patients who have swallowing difficulties and cognitive feeding impairments.
3. Supporting patients with communication and swallowing difficulties during community activities.
4. Preparing personalised materials to support therapeutic interventions.
5. Demonstrating communication strategies to families and carers, including the use of high- and low-tech communication aids.
6. Providing clinical administrative support to SLT’s, including data collection and analysis.
To be successful in this role you will:
7. Have experience working in a care or therapy environment.
8. Be able to understand and follow instructions accurately and to learn new skills quickly.
9. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
10. Be computer literate: ability to use Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
11. Understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality and implication of non- compliance.
12. Be able to demonstrate the ability to work with patients with behaviours that challenge.
13. Demonstrate awareness of the impact of complex brain injury on a patient’s communication, cognition, and swallowing
Where you will be working:

You will be working at Badby Park, a specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation and complex care service for people with neurological illnesses, acquired brain and spinal cord injuries.
You will work alongside side the multidisciplinary and clinical teams to deliver truly person-centred services where each individual is at the heart of everything. The service has extensive facilities to cater for specific needs for people over 18 years old, who have complex neurological care and rehabilitation requirements.
